There is a rumor that restaurants might open in May in Italy. I like this rumor. I’m not eager to go back to the office, but I am eager to get back to my favorite restaurants.
I spent my morning developing a nerdy wine mobile app. Roberto spent his putting up a lattice wall on the terrace to create a shaded lounge space. A lot of it is pure luck, but we seem to excel at life in lockdown. We keep busy but pace ourselves and drink way more coffee than I ever realized.
I made English muffins with this recipe for burger buns tonight. English muffins are fun to make as they are super easy and are cooked like a pancake. The grilling part can get a little sticky, but they always taste good.
Today’s adventure involved a lizard that sprang at Roberto from inside my rolled-up yoga mat. Roberto screamed out in terror as the lizard flew through the air. I don’t know who was more scared, Roberto or the lizard, and I can’t describe how funny it was as it happened right in front of me, but I’m still laughing when I think of it. I think Fluffy the Cat gifted the lizard.
Farro flakes with raisins for breakfast. A salad with yogurt and a bunch of nuts and seeds and a poached egg with some bresaola (cured beef) for lunch. Burgers on English muffin buns for dinner topped with caramelized onions, pecorino cream, crunchy guanciale, and spinach. Oven-roasted potatoes with rosemary as a side.
