Lockdown in Rome day 25

I wish we lived closer to a forest or that we had a whole forest in our garden. We don’t like to leave our yard. Safety feels bound to home now and to nature. I like to see my friends around the world on social media retreating into parks and woods, forests and fields.

But we have no need to pass through the front gate. I feel a bit guilty to be living so well in lockdown. Roberto announced this afternoon that he has never eaten so well on a daily basis in his entire life.

That was right after he texted a favorite pub in the city, Luppolo Station, and learned that they would deliver to us way out in the Roman suburbs. So it was pulled pork sandwiches, German alt beer, and natural wine from Lazio for dinner this evening! The bartender made the delivery. Roberto thanked him with a big tip. He thanked us with free beer glasses.

Many big stores are still backed up on orders, which means we get to discover all the wonderful mid-size and small retailers. If you’re looking to order online in Italy, Shop Piemonte is fantastic. They have a great selection and our order came in a couple of days. That’s the three-box beauty that came this afternoon pictured above. I jumped up and down and screamed when the delivery van pulled up.

I also finished a great novel after work today, “Writers & Lovers” by Lily King and would recommend. What are you reading?
